Shilen match stainless

I have a factory Remington .308 Win. I've shot in 3 F/TR matches at 600 - 1000 yards. The rifle shoots pretty well for a factory gun. I was thinking of replacing the barrel with a Shilen stainless match, not the select match. Would there be a noticeably difference in group size or should I save the money for a premium like Krieger,Hart, or Lija?

Shilen belongs in the top with the others you name off. You can get them pretty cheap from the Barrelman.com. I have one Shilen and it shoots good, I also have other custom barrels and they all shoot better than the factory barrel I replaced.

I have used the select match and the regular stainless select. They were fine barrels. They had problems with their contour lathe for awhile, but the last barrel I got from them was a #5 contour stainless select. It was concentric with the bore within .002" for the full length and the bores have all been slick. They hand lap all of their stainless barrels. Mike is right, I have used a Hart, Lilja, and Krieger also, and the Shilens are in that group for accuracy. They've just been rougher on the outside until lately.

Good shooting, Tom
