Shilen match grade C M barel opinions

What has your accuracy experiences been with the Shilen none lapped Chrome moly barrels? I'm wondering what I should expect if I have my smith use one for a 6.5 creedmore build. The price on those barrels are very tempting. I have heard mixed reviews on this option. Hoping you all can shed some light.

Have your smith lap it a bit if he thinks it is needed, not a big deal.

BigBlue- that is the question I am asking myself and trying to get some help figureing out. I don't mind paying for quality I just don't want to over pay.

In my opinion, it will be a mental block for you if it takes a while to find a load that it likes. I would hate to focus on a target with the thought of "is my barrel up to par?" running through my head. I recently prepped my race car after having clutch and steering issues; I literally replaced/rebuilt everything so I could focus on my driving and not worry about if I actually fixed the issues. For the peace of mind alone it was money well spent.

Shilen is now lapping their CM barrels effective Jan 1, 2016. For A few $$ more go with a select match ss...contact thebarrellman.com for great service and prices on Shilen barrels.

I have used two of them, one for a 260 Model 700 and the other for a 260 Model 760. I was very impressed with the accuracy of either barrel. Both rifles are sub MOA. Both barrels were purchased from Brownell's off the shelf. They show a few tool marks in the bore, but nothing you wont see in a Douglas or other comparable barrel. Personally, based on the two I have, I believe they are a great deal. Neither barrel copper fouled and they did not require any great effort to tune a certain one bullet load. I have shot several different bullets, including good ol' Remington Core-Lokt's with very good accuracy.
Unless this rifle is going to be some "gotta win it" competition barrel that you intend to impress your friends with I would not hesitate to use another Shilen. For the money you cannot go wrong.

With CM you must factor in the cost of finishing to prevent rust. If you go the bluing method, you're at or beyond the cost of the premium for stainless - with no rust protection for the bore. It has always been a no-brainer for me.
