Shilen comp trigger and BAT action

I have my first custom action, a BAT model M. I had found a great deal on a Shilen competition trigger, so I purchased it in waiting for my rifle to arrive. I have never fooled with the hanger system and found myself having to get the dremel out and remove material to get the pins to line up with the holes in the trigger housing. I got through that. When trying to assemble the hanger to the action, it seems the ears on the rear of the trigger coming in contact with the recess and it will not allow the hanger to seat all the way. Needles to say that it wouldn`t cock. What am I doing wrong, or do the ears on the trigger housing need to be ground off a bit for clearance. I noticed pictures of the Jewells don`t seem to have the pronounced ears at the rear of their housing.

THis might be the reason all action builders endorse jewell.

They are built for jewell triggers.

Never seen a shilen so cant comment.

My suggestion...SEE A BENCHREST GUNSMITH!! You can find several in our Top Gunsmiths section ;)

Good luck,
JB

My smith is in that section, just thought I would ask here, since there are so many knowlegable folks hang out here. I will contact him soon as my 6BR barrel is to be shipped within a couple weeks he said.

BAT's web site says thier hangers fit Shilen triggers. I would e-mail Bruce Thom and ask him about it. If you find a fix post the results. I ordered a BAT and planned on putting a Shilen in it as well.

Received an e-mail from Bruce on Saturday, fast reply, and the Shilen is copied from an older Remington and has to be fitted to the action. The newer Jewell is recommended. He offered to fit it for me, if I sent the trigger and hanger to them.
