shilen 2 oz triggers

Hallo

I also use a lot of Shilen 2oz triggers for my custom rifles but modify them and adjust the trigger to about 6oz. Than it can be used for hunting and sporting rifles.
I never have any problems with this triggers. They are well made and the parts are hardened, wire cut and grinded.

I've had two Shilen 2oz triggers fail . I sent both of them back and got brand new ones in return . Both had broken levers inside . I sold the new ones I got back and replaced them with Jewells , one of which failed and Jewell repaired and returned after charging me a small fee to repair ( a handling fee that they thought wasn't a charge to repair the trigger , really !) . I bought a new Jewell recently for my 700 varmint rifle , and I had to grind down the sides of the trigger so it would fit my action . I called Jewell and they of course said " send it back " . I don't know about you guys but I have better things to do with my time than to send brand new items back to their manufacturers . Where's the quality !??
Spot on!!! I agree 100% I have no time or Patience for that! I want it to work right when I pay a premium price the first time for it! I have never owed a Shilen but I would think they would be on par with a Jewel, I own several Jewels, a canjar, a couple harts and rifle basics, I have had a lot of people tel me rifle basics are junk triggers I have had good luck with mine and it has wore several barrels out and still breaks at a crisp 2 Oz's I hate stuff that doesn't work but I would give Ed a call and maybe he would have a simple fix over the phone if not send them back and if they replace them use them or sell them as new and try another brand, really that is the only two options you have other then pitching them and starting over.

I'm glad you folks never made a mistake or is it OK as your work not charged as a premium?
Also, I wouldn't bother Ed as his wife passed away recently.

Butch,
I have made many a mistake in my life and will make more if I continue to breath, I have several of Ed's barrels that are top notch and I did not know about his wife that is very sad news, thank you for the heads up on that. I hope all is well with you?....some of your posts lately don't sound like you.

I must be lucky. I have several different brands of aftermarket triggers (including a Shilen 2 oz.), as well as some factory, and I have never had a serious problem with any of them. All that has been required is an occasional cleaning and adjustment.

Boyd,
I did have a problem with a Jewell and sent it back. It was repaired in a short amount of time and returned to me. The problem was not Jewell's. It had a wear pattern on the inside of the sideplate. It kept the sear from rising and I couldn't cock the trigger. Either the previous owner or myself didn't keep it clean.

bozo699, I have mellowed in the last year, but I have always been a proponent of folks dealing with their supplier and not airing dirty laundry. It is different if you have tried and didn't get satisfaction.

Well said and point well taken, I should copy and paste this on a ongoing bad barrel thread but I won't.
