Shell holder for 338LM?

Got the 338LM case pilot for my AMP annealer in, and realized that I don't have a shell holder to fit these big boys! In my defense, I've been using the Co-Ax for sizing & priming these things, so I never needed one before.

I looked around online and found some conflicting information (shocker) about what size holder actually works. Been running around to the local stores... I will say that the fired Lapua brass I have will not fit, not even close, in an RCBS #37, or a #43 or #44.

Any other likely candidates that people have actually *used* first-hand and know that they work?

Well, like I said, I'm seeing some weird/conflicting information.

RCBS.com has a chart that says #48.

The printed RCBS chart in the store said #37; the packaging on the #37 shell holder literally said ".338 Lapua, .416 Rigby" on it.

A cross-reference chart from Graf's says #14 for RCBS, #43 for Hornady, #8 for Lee (probably need to get one of those for my K&M priming tool) & #17 for Lyman.

So far I haven't been able to find a #48 in town, but there are a few places left to check.

My RCBS die label for 338 Lapua Magnum say use shell holder #37.

However, I've full length sized several hundred cases using RCBS #14.

I forget the number, But I had the same problem. The one from RCBS for the 300 Norma is perfect.

RCBS shell holder #14 is for a 30-378 Wby (may or may not work)
RCBS shell holder #48 is for 338 Lapua & 300 Norma & 338 Norma magnums

I loaded Lapua 338 today with shell holder #14 made for that shell. Also used the Redding #35 today they both work. I know that chart is wrong. It is listed correctly in the RCBS product catalog as #14. It works milanuk, try it. HB

Ok, I looked a couple more places and RCBS show a 48 as the holder as well ???
Also a 37 is listed right along with the 14 that I use and it's listed in my product catalog. All I can say for sure now is a 14 does work. I used it today loading 20 shells and the #35 as well. Guess more than one shell holder will work. I'm starting to dislike RCBS products.

Yeah... there's a reason I tend to avoid them unless I'm in a hurry and 'need' to buy local

Got a Lee #8 for the priming tool, that works fine.

Got an RCBS #14... it works... sorta. Of the three cases I brought with me to test it, one slipped in freely, one had a little friction, and one had a bit of a 'click' to it, snapping into place. If I were using it on a press, or for a priming tool, it'd be no big deal. Using it for annealing... it's nice to be able to just hold the case level, rotate and have it drop right out. Might end up ordering a #48... or a Redding #35... anyway. But this will get me by for now.

Funny how the RCBS primer tool i use for 338 lapua does not work well with RCBS #14 but works great with Redding #35 shellholder. Seems everything I have Redding works well. They cost a little more but it's worth it. I got some here once, fast and fair priced.

I use RCBS #48

When I bought dies a bought the shell holder recommended on the box and it didn't work. I called RCBS and they said that the one on the box fit all brass but Lapua. They sent me a new shell holder that fit Lapua brass for free. I would give you a number but they are all mixed up in the tray I just try till I find one that fits.
