Sheep killer

Been working a week to take out this female that with her partner had already killed 3 sheep off a ranch I was refered to by a friend. I just laid in wait near a sheep carcass they had killed a day earlier and within 12 hours had just about decimated it. She returned for a last meal.
These coyotes are not responding to any calling day or night & remain very quiet. I didn't think she looked heavy till I went to toss her in the truck. She certainly has been around looking at her teeth.
55g Berger varmint bullet test load did the trick @ a looooong 41 yards.

Yeah, they don't look very big when they're not sporting their prime coat. Pretty solid chunk of meat and bone though. Good job. jd

damn, 41 whole yds? with the can on there I can imagine the hiss/crack/thump of a solid close range hit. Kinda like how it sounds when you shoot groundhogs the same way ;)

She doesn't appear to have been nursing a litter. Could you tell? Kinda hard to see in the picture. Great setup you had.;) WD

^^^ three females so far have had no rubbing at all.
rogn.....live in Cheyenne.
Last male was at 160+ yards
She could of been wiser, but Id say 4 years old
Rancher called today & said they just saw 3 more coyotes in a group with the main Big ol dark brown one who we are trying to take out over all the rest. Said the coyotes were working the neighbors dogs to get them away from the ranch to kill.

Reason I asked, Im on the east coast and we have a few, but apparently they dont talk much. Hard to call, we have too much cover.

Jim,

Enjoy your hunting stories. Watch for them and read them like a hunting magazine article. One thing I also enjoy are the pictures and discussion of your equipment. You have a variety of hi-tech rifles used day and night. Keep that information coming.

You are quite a source of information and entertainment.

I live in a rural neighbor hood in south FL. I used to hear then all the time 2-3 in the morning. Not anymore, they must have wised up. Neighbor still sees them every once in a while on the trail cam. Some times in broad daylight.
