Can anyone tell me about Fred Moreo's 6BR chamber over at Sharp Shooter Supply? Need to turn necks? OK with Lapua brass? Etc.?

Thanks.

I had one from him and it was for No neck turn and Lapua brass. I had him change the throat for shorter seating and the 55 Btip. Shot very well. I now have a Pac Nor and it is an 8 twist for the 107's and it shoots well also. Fred may well have your barrel on the shelf. PacNor is 8 week wait.

After speaking with David Hammett, I am now thinking an 8 twist Pac-Nor, 28", Super Match SS. I don't mind the wait. I do agree with the no neck turn, or at least, just do enough to clean them up a bit. If I throat it for 80 BT's, it should be OK to shoot the bigger stuff.

Now my question is about # of grooves................

Thanks.

Rich

I'm ordering that identical barrel in the next week or so.

General consensus is that 3 groove wear better and clean easier. I'm sure you'll hear other opinions though.

I was curious about the number of grooves also, so I asked Kreiger, Shilen, Hart, etc. Their reply was that there is no rhyme or reason to choose one over the other. What buttons they have available and sometimes more than not "marketing hype" or shooter demand dictates what they use. In their opinion it makes no difference in the way a barrel preforms.

3-groove it is, but am changing to a 26" barrel. And I am waiting on a few 80 gr. BT's so that I can send them to Pac-Nor for throating. There are absolutely NONE to be found anywhere, even from Nosler. The tech just laughed when I asked him about some.......... Supposedly they are making a run at the end of the month.

Anyone be willing to send me 3 or 4? Will be glad to reimburse for time and trouble.............
