Hey Guys
So far, my results of the 6x47 Lapua are very pleasurable. I’m impressed that this cartridge is capable of shooting everything that I feed it from 105-115’s. 105's were used w/H4350.
I’ve only recorded data with the 6x47 Lapua using H4831sc and 115 D-Tacs.
My goal velocity is 3000 fps w/ 115 Dtacs. Here is what my rifle produced with each charge:
34.0gr = 2700 fps ES: 58 fps ,10 shots of freshly formed brass)
34.0gr = 2699 fps ES: 27 fps,7 shots once fired, just re-necked, pretty accurate@300yds)
36.0gr = 2738 fps ES: 30 fps ,5 shots fired, bullets were seated out .005 further)
38.5gr = 2850 fps ES: 7 fps ,5 shots fired)-Very accurate @ 300yds,quarter size
39.0gr = 2895 fps ES: n/a ,just one round fired)
After looking at the 36.0gr FPS, it doesn’t add up to why it is so low considering 34.0gr was basically the same. But, if my math and the way the velocity is working, each full grain of H4831 roughly equals 40 fps. So 40.5gr of 4831sc should give me 3010-3025fps.
I try to prove this theory later in the week.
Rifle Specs are:
Savage SA,
SSS Trigger,
SSS benchrest stock,
Pac-Nor SS 1.055 no-taper barrel at 26†1-7.5.
This barrel has over 2100 ROUNDS through it as a 6mm Remington. It now is the 6x47 Lapua and I have documented 49 rounds added to that count. Nathan Dagley at SSG,Straight Shot Gunsmithing) did the rebarreling job for me and so far, he gets more phone from me than he’d probably like to get. This barrel has a story behind it too, doesn’t it Nathan?
Keep ya posted
