Setup for installing side bolt release

Thought I'd share my relatively easy setup for installing a side bolt release. You need a dead center that fits in a collet block and a false center for your action to fit in the collet indexer. You probably have a mandrel already. The advantage over a v block is easy access to the bottom side of the action and no need to set up again when you rotate 90 degrees. --Jerry

One thing would be better done differently but I didn't want to move my vice. With the vice on the right, when drilling the pin from below the left side of the action, where you install the bolt release, faces away from you. Put the vice on the right and you don't have to work on the back side. --Jerry

No kit, just the rocker stop. You have to find a spring and chose a pin and figure out how to secure it in a way that can be removed. You can buy it from PTG. --Jerry

Good question. Is the rocker pin 1/8"? A pull dowel could be made with a 4-40 or smaller internal thread.

I make mine from a 4-40 screw.

Same basic set-up I use to mill/drill/ream the hinge pin hole when installing a mini M16 extractor. Easy to rotate exactly 90* after milling the slot.

For instructional sake, how are you finding TDC on the action? I would think you could use the mag cut out set at 90° to the table would do fine. Just trying to figure it out. I use a Holland-esque fixture I made to install them but I figure the blind hole is more becoming of a professional.
