Setting up Tactical stock for IBS shooting

Need Help setting up a tactical stock for shooting in a IBS match. I have seen people that had a steel or aluminum plate on the forarm of the stock to fit the rest. I have the means to machine the plate, just need to know how to mount the plate to the rifle and making a good stable plate! height, length and width. Material needed.

abm69, If I were going to do what you are talking about I would do this:
1-make aluminum plate to desired size 3"X 5-6" 1/4"- 3/8" thick
2- drill holes in center of plate
3-counter sink holes
4-use screws that fit sling swivel stud nut
5-drill second hole in stock and install s-std nut in stock
6-tape thin cellophane around stock so there are no wrinkles in it
7- bed 1" to 1-1/2"with bedding compound
8-smooth bedding compound with a round object,asthetics)
9-after bedding sets up remove from stock sand and paint go shoot and have fun!!! ps dont forget to use release agent on screws and cellophane good luck,treeman pps- one screw would probably work if you make sure things are lined up when you bed
