Separating a glass bedded action???

Hey guys, I have a tactical precision rifle. It's a 300 WinMag I had done by Jared Joplin from Patriot Arms Inc. (now American Precision Arms). Its glass bedded with pillars and I would like to know how often do you separate the barreled action from the stock to clean and check for rust? Also, will it just come off or will I have to use a mallet or something of the sort?

Advice- If its works don't XXXX with it... The more times you take it apart the bedding gets chipped and elongatd and doesn't do its job.
I have several guns that have never been seperated.

If a good compound was used and it was bedded properly, you shouldn't have any problems. You should be able to just lift out the action from the stock, unless it was intentionally glued in, then, well...you get the idea...

Personally I have pulled one barreled action to find significant rust (on a stainless barrel) after shooting in rain/mist conditions. I did not check at the end of the day as I thought I had covered the rifle well enough to keep moisture out of the action area. Wrong. I pull once a year or after exposure to moist conditions. Been doing it for years with no ill effects to the bedding. Just be careful when removing and replacing the action.

Thanks for all your input gentleman. I read an article here by the inventor of Jewell Trigger...

He says to just use a can of lighter fluid and spray down through the trigger to remove any crud. And whats nice is the lighter fluid will evaporate! But this only solves one part of the problem, cleaning the trigger. The other part is rust! I think since I take excellent care of this rifle that I won't have a problem with it. If its raining outside I don't even go out there and shoot this rifle. But, in the future, I think I will just send it to Jared and have him take her apart and give her a good look over. This gun is exquisite and quite frankly I don't trust ANY local gunsmith with her. And I don't want to take her apart myself because I don't know what I'm doing. If it were a Remington from Wal-Mart then that's a whole different story. Thanks guys!
