Sent email to Savage asking about centerfeed 6BR specific magazine!

So I read online that Savage makes a specific centerfeed blind magazine for the 6BR.

I have not heard back from Savage on this issue.

If they do make such a beast I plan on odering it and giving it a go. I have a 7.5 and 7.3 twist MCU profile barrel one is 5 grove the other is 3 grove.

I have been told by people on this site that getting a Savage to feed 6BR is diffacult at best.

In the past I campaigned 243 Win in F and Silhouttee but hated the stupidly short barrel life. I have not given up on 6BR.

If savage does in fact have such a thing I will purchase one and let everyone know how it goes. I am also figuring I will need to upgrade the extractor, ejector and associated parts.

It would be nice to have 6mm bullet selection plus decent barrel life. I do not need the performance of the 243WIN or 243AI or the 6x47.

I do not need it to feed from a detachable magazine but I do want a repeater not a single shot!

Cheer's!

I got a Savage model 10 from my son that was in 308. It was one of those Savage puts on sale from time to time. Very cheap stock, pencil barrel, not accurate at all. He never used it.

When I got it, I stripped it down to the action. The Urbanrifleman on this forum made me 6BR barrel and I put it in a KRG Bravo stock. I also purchased a 10 round 6BR metal magazine from MDT. The magazine is stamped 308. MDT put an insert it that moves the cartridge slightly forward and it allows the magazine to feed the 6br flawlessly. I also use a single shot sled from MKM Machine when at the range working on loads. It too feeds very smoothly.

Didn’t know they made 6br blind mag? Do you have a part number?

Part number for the 6br detachable magazine is 55157 but they didn’t make many of them. Out of stock almost everywhere but did find it in stock at the link below. FYI I have never dealt with this place.

You can make a 223 magazine work by tweaking the feed lips but it’ll take some testing.

Yep that;s it ..Mine came in a lrpv target action 12 twist 6mm br ,and it works fine.. I have a single shot adapter in mine with the ejector out because ejecting problems as a single shot .. But with the magazine and obviously ejector in it worked quite well.. I;M pretty sure it will only work with the outside metal surround

Take a look at the savage BVSS model I know it comes in 22-250 and is a blind center feed.
Look for a used one and re-barrel it not sure how the feed would work on the stubby 6BR.

Yes, I have. But....the magazine lips are spring steel and you can't bend them with pliers. The best way is to use a parallel machinist clamp and squeeze the bend flatter to make the opening wider. If you go to far it's almost impossible to bend it back.
The factory has a fixture to do it.
