Sendero, Tikka, Others

Looking for a good long range 7mm mag. I don't want to spend through the roof (<$1500, prefer under $1000), but would like something that is .5-1.0 moa groups at 100 yds. Will use for hunting... deer... elk.

I have been reading that the Sendero is good out of the box with a lot of upgrade options down the road. Also, a few comments on Tikka T3 and a few savage 110?.

Please give me some guidance

Plan to use Nightforce NXS on the rifle.

Also, besides this site where is a good place to find a used rifle?

Thank you.

Any factory rifle is a crapshoot, but I've had good luck with the Senderos I've owned. The one I have now is a .300WM, Devcon bedded by me, with a Jewell trigger. Below is a 200-yard target with a fouler and 2 sighters (target #5). I adjusted the scope and then shot once on each of the other 3 targets. Load is 76.4gr H4831sc, Barnes 180gr TSX 0.050 off the lands, RWS brass, Win LRM. I was shooting off a bipod with the Leupold 4.5-14x56 cranked up. This rifle has accounted for quite a few pronghorn, a bull elk, a 265-lb hog, 2 impala, 2 warthogs, a kudu, 4 oryx, a blue wildebeest, 2 springbok, and (when my dad owned it) a Cape buffalo. There are probably some more that I can't remember. ::)

I have a Tikka T3 .308 used for hunting that is a 1/2 MOA 300yd rifle. It is by far the most accurate factory rifle I have ever owned. I have Savage, Winchester, Remington and Howa rifles that are good guns, just not the same accuracy as the Tikka. JMHO.

I have a Sendero-II in 264 WM and I love it - everything fits well and action is smooth with no problems.

If you aren't in a hurry, wait for a Winchester Laredo to come along on Gunbroker. They are solid rifles.

I don't know what you mean by long range.

I would (and always do ;D ) say Tikka, but the T3 is a light weight rifle. Some people have trouble both handling the recoil of a heavy kicking Tikka, and accurately shooting long range.

T3 factory actions, all things considered and for the price, are second to none. IMO 8)

HEY MAN THERES A TIKKA 7MM SS FLUTED ON LONGRANGEHUNTING.COM FOR $650.00 U MAY NEED TO CHECK IT OUT PACKAGED PRICE WAS $1100.00

I really don't think you could go wrong with either the Sendero or Tikka. I have owned multiple of each and they have all shot very well. I ended up sticking with the Sendero's because I planned on eventually building them into custom rifles.
