Selling some walnut Blanks?

i have an opportunity to buy out a lot of walnut blanks from a retiring stock maker. From what it sounds like, there is a storage locker roughly 10'x30'x8' stuffed to the rafters with some pretty high quality blanks, from A-AAA grades, that have all been sitiing for over 10 years.

I considered gunbroker, but am just wondering if anyone can think of some other places to market these if I do decide to buy the lot. Anyone have ideas where the best place(s) to liquidate a bunch of stock blanks would be?

thanks.

There are a lot of stock blanks on E-bay. A bunch of them don't sell because of poor photography, so if you decide to go that route make sure you get some good descriptive photos of your blanks. Forums are OK but a website would be a better bet. Rifle stocks sell pretty good but you can't give away two piece stocks.

Yes. You could sell them to me, but I'd need specifics on the planks.

This is my first post here, but if you do acquire the blanks, you would be able to move the 2 piece blanks on shotgun sites like trapshooters dot com or shotgunworld dot com. Rifle blanks I'm not as experienced with as I'm a trap shooter and just now getting interested in long range rifle stuff.

Site owners I hope I didn't violate any rules suggesting the shotgun sites, and if I did, I apologize in advance and feel free to remove my post.

Also thanks in advance for a great site.

Well, got a chance to look at the lot today. Not as much there as initially advetised, but i would guess there are 5 gaylord boxes full of Walnut, and one of Birdseye Maple.

Also appears to be a Master Carver 4 place stock duplicator. Apparently it was in use up until a year ago. it was recently taken apart to be moved into storage. Any idea on the worth of something like that? i am guessing $4000+?

As for the walnut, i may buy the lot and sell it via fleabay, as well as market on some various forums. Lots of two piece blanks. not a ton of rifle blanks. All the Walnut is really high grade with a ton of figure. Apparently the guy that had it all was making high end stocks almost exclusively for African Plains guns. Digging thru a bit of that stuff gave me dreams of rifles sporting $1000 stocks!

JJ,
Thousand dollar stocks are not high grade stocks. Unless you are lucky a good blank is a grand. The low end labor for a custom walnut stock is $2500+ done by a qualified experienced stockmaker.

Oh, I know that all too well. Pine Tech's gunsmithing program taught me how much time goes into fully building a stock from scratch. Metal work i can do, woodwork, not so much, lol.

Anyways I have a ton of blanks I am going to start sorting through here. Should make for a busy winter.

I have a friend that enjoys restocking double guns. Could you send me some pictures of 2 piece stock blanks in English walnut and fancy Claro walnut. Please include prices. e mail is JL Grissom at sbc global dot net. No spaces. Thanks.
