Seeking NC Mentor

Hi All!

I am new to the benchrest world and feel as though research and books can only get you so far. I would love to find someone who i can spend some time with, learning the in's and out's of the sport, all of it, from cleaning, reloading, shooting, etc... I have shot my whole life, built a few rifles (amateur builds compared to you guys here!) and load everything I shoot. I have a great base of knowledge that i want to put the hands on experience to. All i am looking for is someone who is willing to spend some time and share their experience and knowledge with me. I live in the Charlotte, NC area. If there is anyone interested is helping out a aspiring BR shooter, please let me know! Thanks to All!

Riverside Gun Club in Richfield, NC isn't far from you and has monthly matches. Great group and outstanding shooters. Show up during a match and I'm sure someone their can help you out. PM me if you want more info on the club.

I should have said I shoot LRBR. He may be looking for a BR shooter. I could hook him up at CRPC where I'm a member.
He could do a lot better than me but I like to talk guns.

I will echo Jims invite to come by CRPC. The most knowledgable guys I know here shoot cast bullets, and do well nationally; I'm a prone man. Check out the website and you can see the calendar with frequent matches, which would be an ideal time to get a good perspective.

Joey, you are well located to get into your chosen competition venue, and you may want to try more than one. there are active clubs all around you that shoot the various types of benchrest, just pull up the websites of IBS, NBRSA, etc. to see which clubs do what, then go attend a match. I would expect that you could even go the first time and use borrowed equipment if you put out some feelers & make arrangements ahead of time. Most BR competitors are more than willing to help a new guy, so just go for it.
