See if yall can help me out...

I just had a 338 lapua built, shot it today for the first time and its amazing... I have seekins precision bottom metal and mag on it.. its gives it the extra length... longer mag...

I'm looking to find or maybe just try to have made a single shot mag block to fit this bottom metal as well for target shootin... no one makes one already do they? Id have to have a smith just make one??

Not familiar with your magazine but the 300 WIN magazine I use with my .284 won't support single round loading because, with an empty magazine, the magazine follower acts as a bolt stop when the bolt is drawn back to its furthest point.
I modified the follower with a short (about 3/8 inch) ramp at about 30 degrees that allows the bolt to push the follower out of the way and load a single round resting on top of the magazine. The magazine still loads stacked rounds as it always did.
Removing the follower to do the work can be a bit tricky but it's not that difficult and I'd be happy to describe the process in a PM.

My bolt closes with the mag in still I think... I gotta check that now that you mention it.. I just got the rifle in so I dont have a whole lot of hands on with it yet. I am still on the fence with the chambering because my smith chambered it to seat the bergers way out and use all the mag space available, yet the free bore seems a little long to me... I need to play with it all more though.. I didnt want full mag length where they are hard to fit in the mag. Thats why I am wanting a single shot sled block/mag where I can run 300 gr berger hunting and target VLDS 10 thou off the lands. I cant fit a round seated 10thou off the land in the mag.... so I am shooting the 300 gr berger OTMS where they seem to like a little jump..

I do the same as the others. Just single load on top of a empty AICS .308 magazine with my .308 when I shoot FT/R with 185 grain Hybrids. When I shoot tactical matches or just banging steel at the range I use my AICS magazine and 175 grain SMK's. Good luck! I always wanted to shoot a .338 Lapua Mag at steel targets at 1 mile! Maybe some day I will 8)

1 mile plus is what I am working on. Built it just for that reason, and long range hunting. It isn't a packing around gun though... it weights 26lbs empty and without the scope on it.

My, my - I thought my .338 Lapua mag was heavy! I've sort of lost track, but mine is about 19.5lbs empty with a scope and bipod.

My barrel is 29 inches plus the 5 port brake, then its 1.35 down to 1 inch.. and 4 lbs of lead in the butt stock for weight... ended up shooting like i wanted... feels like a 223 recoil wise..
