'Secret Lubricants'

Chuck,

The slipperyest thing you can get is Pumpkins mix of STP and Mobil One. Down side is it's a bitch to remove!

I personally use Shooters Choice FP 10 works almost as well and just throw them in the tumbler to clean. I've tried a lot of different stuff and the FP10 is my overall choice.

I got some anti-seize with copper in it at NAPA that seems to work really well
I had to do some polishing on the turner mandrel since it and the expander mandrel weren't perfectly matched.
This happens sometimes due to production tolerances.

I use Imperial sizing lube because it's handy but it's not that great for neck turning, great for resizing). I need some new ideas here too.

Jason, is that FP10 an oil?

For sizing BR size cases try Ballistol. Very slippery, non-toxic, clear and thin, wipes off easy.

For Neck-turning I like Prolix Xtra-T lube. It's a non-petroleum/non-silicone lube with little paraffin so it doesn't run. Comes with a needle-tip applicator. I've also heard the STP/Mobil one works great. There are many good lubes. More important than the brand may be the application procedure, your expander to turning mandrel match-up, and keeping the cutter clean.

Come on guys.. we need some more ideas here..

The boys from Tennessee use goats blood mixed with aloe. ,says it makes their hands so soft)

What about kroil for the outside????

German,

You're confusing me with Jason. I'm a little older, but much wiser, and prettier too!

FP-10: It's not an oil per se', it has an additive to increase it's lubricity, and will dry to a slick haze. It works really well for neck turning, I just put enough in a bottle cap to go up half the neck when I dip a case in and then turn. After turning wipe the case and toss it in the tumbler to finish the job.
FP-10 works really well as a raceway lubricant for bolt actions or on the slides of automatics. Just wipe it on with a Q tip wait a couple of minutes, and wipe off the excess. It won't gum up, and isn't effected by temperature. I even treat my locking lugs with it, but still use a bolt grease also. I'm chicken to try it alone for a bolt lube, but feel it might do the job all by itself.
I've tried everything for a neck turning lube and feel it's the best all around. The STP/Mobil 1 mix is slippery-er but is hell to remove! You have to use some heavy duty solvents to get rid of it, then wash and dry the cases. To much a pain for me, not to mention I don't like using any of that dangerous to my health stuff anymore.

Danny, sorry about the confusion! Jason, what can I say, I'm no movie star either - LOL...

Thanks for the info on the FP-10, it sounds like a very handy thing to have around. I'm working on a couple of interesting projects right now and it will be useful I hope Bruno's carries it, I'm heading down there in a little while.
