Seating depth crillen?

Along with my new Hart barrel, my gunsmith provided a little one inch long piece of stainless steel that matches the barrel. His hand written note looks like he spelled out "crillen"?? Is that correct or did I misread his writing? It has the throat dimension written in cursive; .250. It's a .222 Remington barrel. I think it's supposed to be a representation of my chamber and used to figure out base to bullet ogive to the lands. I'm very new to this and hate to bug the gunsmith with my ignorance so I'll ask you fellows; You don't know me yet so I can bear the embarrassment of being so ignorant. ha
Now, see if I understand how to use this little crillen... if I stick a fired case into this device and measure it and then put a bullet into the case that makes the measurement longer.... then slowly walk the bullet into the case by .001" bringing it in to the same measurement I had without a bullet, can I now state that I have this particular bullet touching the rifling lands? Thanks in advance.

Can you post a pic of this piece sounds like a portion of the chamber including case shoulder throat and rifling

The whole reason for my post was to get the info from guys on here without bothering Dan. Please read what I think is the way to use the "critter" and see if I've got it right.
thanks,

Don't worry about bothering Dan. He is one fine fellow. He recently chamber a .222 Remington for me and I requested the barrel stub include the shoulder along with the throat and rifling. This serves double duty with contact with rifling and keeping track of headspace. Measuring a fired case inserted into the stub, you can easily then check how much you arfe moving the shoulder back when full length sizing. Also in serting a case without bullet and measuring that dimension, then adding a bullet will tell you when you have contacted the rifling. If the dimension from base to the end of the stub increases you into the lands by that much. A cool little tool. It won't tell you how much jump you have if you go that direction though. It can also be used to keep track of throat erosion. Dan does a nice job. Good shooting.

Thanks for that. I think the "critter" figured right. Dan is working on a 6MM BR for me right now so maybe I'll ask for the "critter" to have the shoulder cut also like you did.
