Seating dept trouble

Starting loading for my 6 SLR. New hornady brass sized with whidden dies. Working on my seating depth test and noticed that my OAL was varying by about .030. I checked to see that all the parts are tight. Measured the 105 hyb bullets they are running within .002. Some I'm kinda stuck. I'm using the same methods I've used in the past. Same tools as normal. The rounds that I have gotten the correct length are grouping inside a 1/4". So any trouble shooting ideas are greatly welcome.

Unless you pre-sort the bullets oal and the base to ogive measurements, what you experienced is normal. To get consistency pre- sorting is a must.

Are you measureing the proctiles overall length or off the ogive.
I had similar issues and I fixed it by soritn bullets of the ogive. pain full yes worth it absoulutley
Also when getting measurements are all the primers sitting flush or below flush, high primers could also throw measurements off.
Is the brass FL sized or neck sized that could be an issue as well.

check the seater plug portion of your die, maybe its gunked up. also what style of seater die. micromerter die the spring inside might also be gunked up as well
