Your not lubing the case on the outside. Certain lubes will not interfere with powder or primer burn! You only use a small amount inside the neck of the case before seating bullet. It’s not used on the outside of the case. I doubt that the bolt slamming closed would push the bullets back in the magazine , however it is just designed to ease bullet seating! I’ve personally found it very helpful in helping to keep consistent neck tension! If just shooting targets, competition, or maybe even a varmint rifle, it can't hurt to try lubing the necks and see if it tightens up your groups.
I agree with "357mag" that graphite is the way to go for neck lubing unless you want powder sticking and being contaminated as you fill the case.
If rifle is a magnum with magazine feed used for hunting, lubing may not be a good idea. It will allow the extra rounds to change bullet seating depth easier if they slam the front of the magazine during recoil.
Always make sure you CLEAN the necks out with a brush after every firing. Lubing or not.
Only on new virgin brass before the first firing. The necks on some brass come seriously undersized and I run an appropriate diameter expander through them. I use Imperial case lube on a Q-tip and put a very light film on the inside the case neck. Helps with expanding and reduces the "stickyness" of a bullet being seated in the brass that has no carbon coating on it.Does anyone lube their necks before they seat their bullets.
