Seating berdan primers

Im reloading berdan primed Swedish produced 6.5x55 cases.

I have the cases ready to insert the new Tula primers and would like to know if anyone knows how "deep" seated the new primer should be from the face of the case.

The tip of the "anvil" is approximately .063 below face of the case,

The "foil" of the berdan primer (I assume the foil should contact the anvil when properly installed) is approximately .055 below the contact surface of the firing pin or in other words the outside surface of the cup.

This would mean that the primer should be pressed into the pocket approximately .012' deep from the face of the case.

BUT... this seems TOOO deep.

Maybe the Tula primers I have are "shallow" and the Swedish primers (installed approx .003 below the face of the case) are "deeper"

To my line of thinking the avail of the primer pocket on the case should be in contact with the foil of the primer.

Thoughts please

Sorry, I don't have additional advice, but I'm tagging along on this thread.

I load berdan primed cases on a regular basis.I modified a sinclair priming tool and yes primers are not flush but it does not matter.
You can get a very good results accuracy wise.

Many years ago I bought some Berdan primers and am at last priming some old 6.5 MS brass. It's OK but the hardest part is getting the old primers out without damaging the anvil. The 2nd hardest part is cleaning the primer pockets and tiny flash holes.
