Screwed on Ebay!!

First time that's happened. Saw a scope base, got it at "Buy it now". Havn't recieved it and get no answer from my PM ar email.:, This was on the 5th. And it was in Washington. It was only $25.00. If the guy needed the $$ I would have given it to him but to give me the shaft?? Wrong move! That's enough to piss off the Pope! Feed back time is coming. ;) Now it's my turn! :comp:
Paid with Pay Pal so I havn't lost anything but it's just the point of the deal. Payback time!!;)

You've lost $25. Paypal will only credit his account if he has money in it, if and when you win the dispute. Been there, done that.

Do whatever you can to try to contact the guy prior to feedback. I can almost guarantee if you post negative feedback he will counter with LIES that you never paid him or that he has proof of shipment.

The other possibility is that the shipment was actually lost or delayed. That's why, these days I always insist on the part being OVER-insured.

Mike,
Let it go for a while before paying back, I had a problem getting a 7mm barrel from this site and finally got it a month later... only problem I EVER had from this site...
things happen, as you well know....
If it isn't cleared up in 30 days, I'll help you with the pay back :D

Contact both PaylPal and Ebay about the fraud; if you used your credit card from PayPal, contact the card company too and tell him he defruded you on the charge. Even if PayPal does not refund your $$$, sometimes teh credit card company will.

I got taken by a guy on ebay about 5 years ago, as did a whole bunch of other guys, total of about $3,500 in fraud claims). We all filed complaints against him with Ebay, with his local law enforcement agency, as well as the USPS, as he had us pay by money order using the regular US mail. I never got a dime back, but he ended up going to jail - it was SWEET. I could have gone to his sentencing, but it was not worth the $$ to fly to Lexington KY.

DO NOT let it simply slide, as that is what most of these guys count on.

Things come up and things happen so I'll cut him some slack, for a while anyway. ;) And the fact that it was paid with a Credit Card, I won't have any problem getting my money back. I have an invoice from Pay Pal showing that I paid him so that excuse won't work. And we're only talking about $25.00. A simple reply to my Email would sure have gone a long way. Or if your dog died, at least tell me. I'll send you a card!
Patience and perservence will be used! :sneaky:

Lynn: If I was selling you an item, I would at least make sure you knew it had been shipped, or when it would be,no matter what the price! It didn't have to go out "today", just let me know so I knew it was being taken care of.
Come to find out the guy had a minor problem and if fact it "has" been shipped. That was the only answer I was looking for. Just don't leave me in the dark!;) I didn't expect it "now", just keep me updated! And so far, all is well!:D
Just take care of the loose ends and everything else will fall into place! Can't ask for too much more than that.

99% of my business is on the net, either buying or selling. Either way, I handle it as quickly as possible. If I recieve money for an item, it is shipped that day and the buyer is notified. If I buy and item my ck goes in the mail that very day, and the seller is notified.
Its far from that with a lot of buyers. The cks in the mail can be one to several days later, or in some cases, never. I have even had buyer lie to me the second time, that its in the mail, and of course the ck never comes.
If you rarely do an internet transaction, you will probably be lucky and they will all be good. The more you do the greater the odds that you are eventually going to have a mishap. Paying by CC is your best protection, if that is possible. If you think you are protected from fraud or theft using a POSTAL MO you are dead wrong. The POST office will do nothing to help you and will likely be 6months or more to collect on a stolen MO, if you are that lucky. Larry @"GREAT SCOTT" shooters products

I was told yesterday that the item had been shipped and should show up today or tomorrow. It was here when I got home. :thumb:
When I deal with someone, I keep them updated. That's the easy and best way. No guessing involved! Nobody likes to be left in the dark. :)

The reason that I use the USPS is the fact that I have not heard of one case of someone being charged/convicted of a felony mail fraud from UPS or FedX.
I prefer certified checks or money orders as it eliminates most posabilities of fraud/identity theft & surcharges.

Mikie-I'll keep you informed when I receive your next project-,sorry)
Thanks Larry-your service is first rate.
Any more 700 triggers available??

My main concern is to be kept "informed"! If I ship something I like to let them know that it's 'On it's way".
This Ebay transaction turned out OK but the communications could have been a "little better". Bottom line is that it turned out well. That's what counts! ;)
And Dan, my next "project" will be on it's way tomorrow morning.
,USPS Priority Mail ;)) Good luck with it. I know you can sort it out. :D
And thanks for taking the time to talk about it.
I don't think it could be in better hands!

Mikie,
I'm glad the guy finally came through with the goods.
I have a couple,on this site)individuals that owe me a hundred here & a hundred bucks there for welding & machine work as I pride myself with a 2 day turn around on said work.
Their next bolt may meet the plasma cutter instead of me hearing,I'll get a check in the mail for you.
Every dog has his day!!!!!

Dan: I love it when it's "payback" time.;) You bust your hump to do a good job for a person and they take their time about paying for the work? Plasma cutter sounds like the answer! :thumb:

And $100.00 isn't much anymore but it's the point. A flake by any other name is still a flake! And it takes all kinds!
But that's what you get for being a "nice guy"! Some day you'll have "had enough". Keep that plasma cutter warmed up. ;)

To all it is better to deal through the mail for payment. That way if someone intends to throw the shaft your way they are committing mail fraud. If they screw you the feds will screw them!!!!

Lynn, re-read my post. I have not received a bad MO, but do know of persons who have had MOs stolen and it took up to 6mo or longer to collect. I did have a Rifle missing for 14 days and got ZERO effort from the PO and when I reported it stolen to ATF and ask for help, I was told to contact a Lawyer. Go figure that statement. The rifle later surfaced. I've had a Scope that was uninsure stolen, got zero help on that, and the reason I ship uninsure, the only claim I filed w/the PO took 8months to collect and thats going through US congressman Ed Whifields office to accomplish that.

BTW Dan I dont have any stock Remington triggers, I even need one myself. Larry

What Larry said. I have done a lot of transactions with the local post office. I could write an epic about all the different ways I have been screwed via Ebay, Paypal, Gunbroker and the PO.

The latest was a good money order that the local PO's 'finance manager' said was bogus. I called the TX PO where the thing came from and it was good. If I hadn't called up and talked to a supervisor I would probably still be waiting for my money. It was a transaction from this site and the buyer doesn't even know there was a problem :)

Not true anymore. Ebay just changed their user policy a few days ago - sellers can no longer leave neutral or negative feedback about buyers - other changes to feedback system too:

Computerworld - EBay feedback changes take effect May 19

Ebay - Upcoming Changes to Feedback
