Scotch brite pads for Stainless steel revolver

I used one of the green scotch brite pads my wife bought on my Ruger Super Redhawk revolver to remove scratches and it worked great! My question is, if I get some finer grit pads to go over it again, would it bring a little more shine out and remove some of the brushed finish look? Although I don't want a mirror shine finish. Thanks!

The industrial purpose Scotchbrite pads always seemed to be to be better than the kitchen/home center type when I worked in the welding and industrial supply business and sold them. The custom commercial kitchen equipment manufacturers used the maroon pads with straight line power finishers to put the brushed finish on stainless steel when I was in the business. The industrial brown color (if I remember correctly) was very aggressive, and the gray was a finer finish material. All as best I recall, and bear in mind I'm old, so take this for what it's worth and that probably isn't much!

3Ms synthetic steel wool really does a nice job. It's available in grades that correspond to conventional steel wool.

Works great on case necks too...no steel wool slivers. -Al

I suspect most factory brushed finishes are produced with this type of compound. On a loose muslin wheel it gets in all the contours and produces a very nice brushed finish.
