Scoring Neil jones

I shoot a 308 bullet for groups in a league, the scorer told us that Neil Jones said to use the 6.5. Circle on his tool for measuring .308 and the .224 for 243 bullets. This makes no sense to me at all.
Can anyone help me to understand this, 6.5 is only .255.

They may be trying to measure off the inside of the hole. We have used the stated caliber hole for years with no problems.

Depends on the paper. Measure the bullet hole to determine what size it cuts.
Don't go by what someone says. Check it. If your league does it incorrectly, challenge them, show them what correct is.
