scopes and scopes

Does any one know anything about these march scopes?, i know what i seen on their website. Ya know looks like one dealer only and they dont list prices and models in stock stuff like that, so i know their expensive .everythings expensive to me, im interested in one but its not on my plate this year maybe next year.i mean a fellow likes to know more than what info thay have. like HOW MUCH! ,HOW LONG TO GET ONE! stuff like that. i think one would want to know so you could plan on skiping some lunches(could use to do that anyway)Walk when possible to save some money there on gas.maybe get the phone and internet/cable turned off for a few months, could save some money there.A few months of stuff like that a fellow could get him one of them scopes.ok maybe a year of that.

Why not contact Kelbly ( 330-683-4674) and put the questions directly to them? At least that way little chance of "mis-information". Too rich for me. Recently bought 2 Benchrest Nightforce scope's for close to the cost of 1 March.

I guess it boils down to if it's made right they don't need a life time stuff... jim

Seems to me that kinda defies logic, if it is made to ensure 100% integrity for a lifetime, where is there any liability (warranty repair costs) to the manufacturer?

yea if i was ready to buy i would contact kelbys, seems to be only dealer. just thought i would feel around first to see if anyone knew anything about them.maybe better info that way.

Fjim,
I don't know much about the march scopes, just what I have read and they look exelent! I built a custom .300wm early this spring and put a new S&B 5.5-25x56 PMll on it $3150 Absolutly no regrets if you cant see it you cant hit it! These hi end scopes hold there value,if you don't buy it you will always wonder what if ? If you don't beat it up you will get your money back if you don't like it! (fat chance)
If you took a trip to Disney World for $5 or $6 K and didn't like it,how much $ would you get back? Get yourself to a range somewhere and ask someone who has one if you can look through it.jut food for thought? Its only money and in the end you can't take it w/you.

Contact Jim Kelbly for all your questions. Great guy to deal with and you will not find a more honest person. If you are on the scope site you can scroll down left side and it shows you pictures of scopes. I think you click on the pdf file on left for that model and it will give you prices. Hope that helps you.

Well guys not what i was hopeing for, thought i might get some info- like i have one love it and so on,or maybe oh if you get one that works great if you dont sorry about your luck. stuff like that. love stuff like that!

Thanks anyway.

One of my team bought the March tactical 12 x 50 power. It is absolutely the clearest scope I have ever looked through. Even the objective is only 50mm, the target at 600 and 1000 yards is incredible. But that is not the end of the story.

This fellow hung up his nightforce scopes for the March. Then one fateful night while cleaning his F-Class rifle, he dropped it off of the rest. You guessed it. This 21 pound rifle landed on the top turret. The turret was not too happy!! He called Jim. This type of repair had to be returned to Dion, the Japanese manufacturer. This does not make for a happy camper!

In less than one week, Dion air freighted a new scope to him. He contacted them and said he felt it was his fault. Dion told him the warranty was unconditional and they insisted that it deserved replacement. So he broke it and they sent him a brand new one all the way from Japan in less time then it would take to get one fixed in Oregon. Folks if that is not customer service you tell what is!!!!

That's great to hear and I'm sure its a fantastic scope: still a 5-year warranty when everyone else offers lifetime. Wonder how much that'll cost you when you drop your scope on its head in 5 years and one day.

What is the deal with all the lieftime warranty hype on the site recently?

If you crash your car (drop your scope)..do you expect the mfr to replace or repair it for you?? Even when driving it off the lot, no. New cars cost a heck of a lot more than scopes.

To each his own, but when I'm weighing up the factors in buying new optics, warranty length & transferrability come WAY down on the list of factors considered. I'm buying OPTICS, not a wty. The wty doesn't help me shoot small (some days nothing does!), the glass helps way more than wty duration.

Seems as if a guy could offer a marginal scope, and as long as you mfrd enough to offer a no bs lifetime wty, he'd sell quite a few scopes. ;)

The Leupold/Premiers on my F-Class rifles (4) are all near or past the decade mark, none of them have been back for any reason what so ever, I purchased them knowing that they will perform as required and last.

After all these "new" companies are producing a product for as long and in the quanities to meet the needs maybe I'd buy one, but not just to make heads turn cuz I have a "March".

I will keep reserching them and maybr next year i will look in to buying one. my luck i will have the money to buy one and wont be able to get one thats how it goes for me.

I dont care much for warranty's, if people have them and they are working well and not haveing any problems with them they must be ok.
So what if you had one for six years had to pay to have a repair made to it.

Well, the problem is March scopes, in their quest to maintain POI, have lenses and other internals epoxied in place......there's just not a whole lot one can service on these scopes. They may have replaced scopes that were damaged through no fault of their own (with-in the warranty period)......but there's no compelling legal reason ( expressed warranty) for them to do so when it happens to your scope.

It's pretty simple. You want to know how much they cost, call and ask. Only the seller can tell you how long to get one, so call and ask.

A friend purchased a fixed power March when they first came out, and then purchased a variable march when they first came out. He's quite pleased with the optics and performance thus far. The optics look great. He also has a bit of spare money.

In my case, going past Leupold to NF was about as far as I could stretch a scope budget. And I really like the NF BR series. Now if that friend could outshoot me on a consistant basis and attribute it soley to the scope I might be looking a little harder at a March. Same goes for the few people I know who have popped the big bucks for S&B.

And if you plan on topping more than one rifle, then cost definitely enters the picture.

Thanks for the info rust, what nightforce BR do you have? a friend of mine has the 8-32 and is very happy with it. I was leaning tward the 12-42 BR myself. i have a IOR 9-36 tac and the optics are great, but if i had it to do over i would have went with a 12-42 nxs. but i need a new scope for a new rifle im building and it looks like the nightforce is the way to go but i was definetly thinking about march scopes and still am. just love the power ranges(low weight) and alot of BR shooters seem to be puting down some records with them. Its alot of money to me but i hate buying scopes so i need one more and dont want to buy the wrong one.

I have the 12-42 BR with NP-1RR recticule which I personally prefer to the rest even though it is a busy recticule. Recticule choice is strictly a matter personal tastes IMO. Whatever makes you happy. For instance I've never liked really fine crosshairs or target dots.

How much?

I purchased a March 50x from Kelblys over a year ago for $2150. They could have gone up in the last year or so. The March variable 10x60x is $2700. Give Jim, Ian, or Hobie a buzz and find out for sure.....
