Scopes and Mirage

Hello All,
I live in a hot climate and get plenty of practice at shooting with mirage, but are fixed power scopes better at handling mirage compared to variable scopes? Are/is any particular brand of scope better at coping with mirage?

Thanks in advance.

variable power allows you to power down to shoot , fixed power you are stuck with a target you may not be able to see.

I agree to some extent, but you still want enough power to monitor the mirage in real time - so constantly switching back and forth on the power ring may not be a good option if the conditions are switchy or have periods of rapid sun/ cloud changes. Mirage is "wind you can see- in real time". Dialing down until the target appears less blurry, does not mean you can hold previous POA.....the mirage is still there regardless of scope power ...... therefore your bull is not actually where it appears to be.
Short range BR targets have a heavy black rectangle incorporated on the record and sighter targets and allows use of individual mirage boards which aids in holding a POA.....LR BR - not as easy with the blue targets and no mirage boards.

Handling mirage is not a function of brand - it is purely a function of objective diameter (bigger is worser), and power (more power is worser).

Variables are nice, because you can control the effect of mirage = and smaller objectives (40mm) are more then enough.

Leupold used to make a set a screw-in apertures for their scopes to control mirage, but they were discontinued cuz no one knew what to do with them :(
