scope

Any reason why that brand? Budget? go with a bushnell elite series. Great scope for the price. I have one on a .223 and its crystal clear and holds zero. They are as good as the vx2 leupolds IMO. But no, no info on the Barska.

My Pops had one for a very short time. He didn't have anything good to say about them. I think one of his friends got one about the same time he did and he got rid of his also. I would not get one

These scope are at the same price as the 3200 here in Canada. 269.99$ for a 3x9x40. That's why I ask... I know the 3200, it scope my .338wm ruger M-77 but now it's for a 7mm rem mag and I'm searching a bigger objective like 44-50mm one...

How about Buckland scope, same price as Nikon here but clearer and more light passing thru. Any idea about them?

Fell for one Barska a few years ago. Too many features to say no to, or so I thought. I wish I could say it was the only $200 I have wasted in this sport.

Saw two at my hunting camp in Georgia. Boy do they look good and the owners were proud to show them to me.

First look with my collimeter and they both wandered during power change. Moved the sights and they did not return to start.

Looked toward the sun on one and "kindly" returned it to the owner. Flare and a rather short eye relief for full field of view.

Scopes look good on the outside. Both owners are "beyond the uninformed" and happy to hit a pie plate at 50 yards. Reminds me of a sexy sports car with a lawnmower engine.

OK I won't touch Braska scope... How about a used weaver T36 or T24 for the same price of a new Elite 3200? Or a Nikon target scope? Someone have one to sell?

Go to benchrest central and one guy this morning had 3 all alike.

Francis: Not trying to throw cold water on your idea of a Weaver T-24x or T-36x, both very good scopes for their intended purpose. I have 3, T-24x's and they are very good, but, they are intended for benchrest where the target is stationary, not moving around in the field.

They have a very small field of view ( T-36x even more so than the T-24's) & to try & find a moving varmint with it can be very challanging.

You may want to consider a variable in the 6.5 to 20x magnification range. 6.5 excellent for close range, under 200 yds., and to locate the small target, and anything up to 20x for the longer distance shots.

A variable will give you more versatility. Consider a used Leupold with their forever warranty for no matter who owns it. Also hold their value & are easy to re-sell.

I got a nikon prostaff on a .22 and its nice. $200. I think you can get one in 4-12x50 for around $300? Not as good as my Bushnell. If you have the cash buy a Leupold. Great quality and forever warrenty! Little more cash but well worth it!

Thank for the reply! Will consider a variable power scope for hunting and a fixe power scope for my bench rest project.

Thank you

Francis
