Scope value with ring marks

How much does ring marks hurt the resale value of a scope? Siii 8-32 LRMOA, marks are not paint scratches, but pressure/ crush marks. The matte finish is shinny in spots, but you can feel the indent where the ring edge was. How much if any does this decrease the ($800 value)
Thanks Troy

I will not buy a scope with ring marks. It shows lack of knowledge or concern on the part of the owner, and gives question on how the scope was treated.

Thanks for the replies. I did not mount the scope so not sure what rings where used, iirc burris xtr?
Could other please reply, because right now it sounds like the $800 went to $0 because catshooter just would not buy it. When I purchased/ traded I was told no ring marks. I was surprised to see the 2 sets of ring marks. The fact that I could feel some of the marks edge worried me about how much the tube was crushed, very small amount, but could it affect the internals? The looks does not worry me as much, I am more concerned with functional effects and how it would hurt resale. In my experience high quality scopes hold value very well 10% less than new in some cases. Just in case this scope is not one I want to keep, will I be able to get close to the $800 trade value?

I watch a lot of scopes on eBay, cuz some of my favorites are not made any more... ring marks usually lower the value about 25-30%

You should be able to get $600-$650, maybe less if the ring marks are bad. Some people won't buy scopes with ring marks some people will. Some shooters won't buy a used scope at all (trust issues). But the true test is to put it up for sale. If it sells great, if it doesn't the price is probably to high.

Ring marks are one problem but feeling the indentation would cause me not to purchase. Some marks 'look' really bad but can you actually feel an indentation?

If the scope is a good deal and a well made scope I don't have a problem with ring marks. I won't pay full unmarked value, but I will buy at around a 25% discount off going rate. If its really ugly with multiple scratches up and down the tube and the discount is deep enough I would just duracoat it.
It would have to be a pretty screwed up ring and action to cause a dent deep enough to affect function if its no longer in a bind.

I had a friend mount a leupold 6.5-20 for me and when I moved it , it had bad crush marks. I remounted it 8 years ago and have not had a problem with it. I talked to the Leupold rep at Bass Pro a while back and he said Leupold would replace the tube for $65. I would use it and not worry about it. I am sure Sighttron would do some thing similar.
