Scope specs 1982 ... and today ?

Just a quick question. I sent a scope in (lifetime warranty) for an inspection because I was even having a hard time dialing it in with major Burris Zee ring insert magic . I received word the scope is on it's way back in the same condition I sent it in . Would these specs be normal for 1982 ?Interested mostly on the windage . I understand that was a long time ago, maybe they go by old standards for older scopes . Guessing tolerances are tighter these days . Not going to name names, just curious .I have many scopes by this company, first time I ever sent one in . Thanks .

Copied from e-mail..."You will find on the report when you get your scope that it has from center, 13 MOA Up, 16 MOA Down, 19 MOA Left and 10 MOA Right."

That sounds like a 1inch tube riflescope. You have about 30 MOA of elevation and windage. That's pretty standard for a 1inch tube, even today.

Oh sorry, I misunderstood your original question. The difference in mechanical 0 and optical 0 is something to be expected and especially almost 40 years ago, prior to the deployment of CNC machines. When you think about it, the mechanical 0 at 15/15 should match the optical 0 but in your case it's off by 4 MOA. When you consider that an MOA would be equivalent to a displacement of .0003 inches, so 4 MOA off from center represents .0012 inch of manufacturing error. If the scope is a second focal plane, that means the reticle is just off by .0012inch side to side and .0005 up and down. Not too bad.

OK,I see now. Thanks for explaining it in layman's terms, much appreciated . Now that I understand it, it's no where near as bad as I was picturing. Especially considering it's age.
