Scope ring choice for nightforce competition?

What scope height are you using with the new nightforce competition? I have a 700 action with a Krieger heavy varmint barrel. 20 MOA picatinny scope base. I was planning to order the nightforce ultralight rings. Not sure. Which rings to get ?

Buris sig.rings best in the business… won't put marks on your scope and you don't need a 20 min. base, but if you do and you can put it back to zero with the extra ring inserts ……. jim

I have to agree with Herbert. Nightforce rings cost a little more, but you can't beat the quality. Plus, they are lite.

Which height rings will clear the 52mm objective? I have a 20 MOA rail with heavy varmint contour.

The scope has a 2.55" diameter bell so you need 1.275 + a bit for clearance Nightforce ultralight unimount A191 has a 1.375" ring height. You may able to use lower since you have a HV taper.

I did a lot of testing and found the gun and scope combination in all cases shot better with a Burris rings with the inserts than conventional rings. i tested rings and i have almost any kind here and all are not used any more. I am saying that it seems to have to do with the vibrations that the insert dampens…….. jim

I've stayed away from the burris rings with the inserts on my hard recoiling rifles with heavy scopes , for fear of slipping . do you guys use these insert rings on these type of rifles ? I do use these rings on my other rifles , and like them . Jim

I have a 300 R.U.M. and had to go to the Burris Signature "Zee" rings to keep the scope from slipping! They also worked perfectly on my .358S.T.A. and you don't get much harder of a recoil than from that beast!

I wipe the inserts inside and out and where they seat inside the ring with non chlorinated brake cleaner. I also do the scope where the ring is going to seat. no slippage …… jim

I have a smokeless muzzleloader that I shoot in a lead sled loaded with 100 lbs of lead. I shoot 61.5 gr of H4198 behind a 200 gr bullet. The recoil is not what I call "light". The lead sled takes the recoil, the Leupold 3x9 ML scope takes the recoil and the Burris inserts take the recoil. Over 200 rds through it and POI hasn't moved. For me, there is no problem with inserts and no ring marks either. I would add no lapping, and no torquing of the scope tube when using rear windage bases.
