Scope reticle ?

Looking at getting another scope for PRS/steel out to 1200 yards on my 6 BRA.

I've narrowed it down to these 5 scopes. My biggest concern is the reticle choice and clear glass. I want the smallest dot in the open reticle when it's on the highest power and super good glass.

The current valdada recon g2 I have the dot is just to big on 30x, but the glass is very good. I just wished the dot wasn't so big from 25-30x

For the 5 scopes they are as follows.

1. Vortex Razor Gen 3 6-36x ebr7d reticle
2. Zeiss S3 LRP 6-36x zf-mil reticle
3. Leupold MK5 5-25X pr2 mil reticle
4. Leupold MK4 6-24x pr2 mil reticle
5. Leupold MK5 7-35x pr2 mil reticle

Out of these, it appears the Vortex has the smallest dot, is that correct?

I have a few of the Vortex strike eagle 5-25x with the ebr7c reticle and I love that reticle. The dot stays super small even on 25x.

I won't be able to look through any of these before purchasing, so that's why I'm coming on here.

I've looked at all the substensions but that's not telling me how big the center dot gets on the max power.

Thanks for any and all help.

Get the Razor 6-36. The dot stays plenty small enough on any power as it’s a FFP scope so the dot stays the same size in relation to the target no matter the power. The Razor dot is .03 mils and the Strike Eagle is .04 so if you are happy with the Strike Eagle then you will be happy with the Razor. Even more so with the extra power and much better glass.

Thanks. I am kinda leaning towards the Razor just because I know I love that reticle and the glass is quite a bit better over the strike eagles.

However, when you said FFP the dot stays the same size, I don't think that's the case with this valdada I have. The center dot gets bigger as you crank up the power, even though it's FFP. Everything else stays the same, but the dot does not. That's where I'm getting confused with it and not knowing if these other reticle will do that as well.

Who knows with IOR but in any FFP the reticle stays in the same size in regards to the target as the power changes. The target gets larger with more power and the reticle stays in relation to that so it covers .03 mils at 6x and does at 36x also.

Here's the Vortex ebr7d mil reticle

And my Valdada MP8 reticle

If I'm understanding it right, the dot on my Valdada is like 3x bigger than the Vortex. Thats a pretty big difference for small precision work. Which is why I really don't care for the valdada reticle. For paper shooting and small groups, it just covers up to much. So at 100 yards that .1 mil equates to like .36" coverage.

Valdada shows .1 Mil center dot and the Vortex shows .03 Mil.

Yeah that dot is about 3 times larger so yeah definitely tougher for precision. The Razor doesn’t have that problem.

Perfect. That's kinda what I was thinking. Not a fan of it honestly. Guess I need to put it up for sale/trade and get a Razor! Thanks for your help and clarification!

Thank you for the kind offer....... but no thanks.........

No worries. I've got one coming next week. Had some money set aside and was able to sell an extra 5-25x strike eagle I had laying around. Ill just put the Valdada on my PRS CZ 457/Bartlein until it finds a new home. All is good my friend!
