scope mounting

OK so I Know how to mount one have all the proper tools. The info I'm interested in is how do you guys make sure your scope ( cross hair ) is square and plum to the bore for proper tracking of the cross hairs? I would like to get them tracking right for elevation and windage adjustments in the field.

We had the same topic a few weeks ago on another thread. I take my tools with me to the range, along with a 24" carpenters level and a sight-in piece of target paper 24" to 36" square.

Attach the paper keeping the top surface level, check the bench, your front rest, and the rifle level.

Have the scope ring screws just loose enough that the scope can be turned, lay the crosshairs on the horizontal & vertical target edges & tighten down the ring screws. Takes me about 10 minutes.
