I have played with various scopes on handguns for over 50 years. For what you describe I prefer a red dot. I must say I once had a Ruger Single Six I used with the .22 mag. Cyl that I topped with a 12x Leupold with target knobs to killed a bunch of groundhogs with . I figured dead hog to 150 yds., mostl shot off a rest of one type or another. Shoot groups from individual cylinders, you might find one very accurate you save for long shots or one that is not accurate you use only for tin cans. Have fun.
