Scope for 500-600 yards on elk?

Are you hunting open country or timber?

I hunt wide open desert and timber mountains. The Vortex LRT 4.5-22x has been great. I have also used a straight 10x in both terrains with success.

I had a SWFA 3-15 and was not overly impressed. Took it off and replaced it with a Sightron.

Sightrons are a great Japan scope value.

I have a like-new Nikon Monarch FFP 3-12x42 for sale. My Dad bought it for an elk hunt that never materialized (out-of-state permit woes). Originally paired with a M70 Extreme Weather Stainless in .270 WSM (also for sale). This is a unique scope in that the reticle sub-tension dots are all calibrated for the 300 Win Mag, what Nikon called the Long Range Hunting reticle (200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 yards). The .270 WSM is a lighter bullet but the same trajectory as the 300 Win Mag. Message me if interested.
