Scope for 17HH?

Lucky6547

I just bought a CZ527 varmint in 17HH.
I know it can be accurate, but since it is definintely for use under 300yards (maybe even under 250)...how much scope does it really need?
I don't mind spending money on scopes...I put a U.S. Optics on my favorite 6.5x47...but this doesn't seem like a cartridge that needs a Schmidt and bender...and I doubt I'll be fiddling with knobs all the time...mostly just for walking varminting on appropriate sized vermin...looking for something with parallax control and holds zero...3-4x on the lower end, 10-18x on the upper end...
What do you guys recommend?
Thanks,
Ken

6-18 VX2 Leupold with varmint reticle

Plenty of glass, decent price, good crosshair set-up, under-rated scope.

+1 above. Doesn't sound like you're on a limited budget since you already have a USO scope. But, the Leupold mentioned above is a really good value. In addition, you're going to appreciate the 18x when testing loads at 100 yd. on paper. The holes made by a .172 bullet are very tiny!...unless you use a high powered spotting scope.

I'm running a 4-16x44 AO Scorpion Copperhead

Lots of magnification for paper and I can dial right low to 4 power for in close work.

Seems to work quite well for me.

Remember, the size and proximity of the eye piece may interfere with the bold handle, so make sure it's either not too big, or the scope is mounted with rings tall enough to allow clearance for the bolt handle when cycling the action.

I was lucky in that regard as I bought the scope long before I acquired my CZ527 Varmint & medium Leupold CZ rings are the perfect height!!

The objective lens is quite close to the barrel, but far enough away that it still turns, but not far enough away for the objective lens cap to be installed while being stored.

The bolt also has JUST enough clearance with this eye piece.
