scope choice

thanks for the advise now to get the best deal
i can get the sightron III 8x32x56 for $838 +$36 shipping to England does anybody know where i can get a better deal or is this a good deal plus it needs to be a shop as i can only pay on the plastic

Try www.theopticzone.com
Their prices start at 841 dollars but they have a 7% discount going at the moment. They are a great company to deal with for exporting scopes.

$838 + $36 shipping ends up dearer than you'd pay for the scope through the UK importer Aim Field Sports once you add import duty, handling charges and 20% VAT. You'd be in trouble too if the scope needed repairs or replacement under warranty as you'd have to return it to the retailer in the USA.

The UK price for the Series III LR 8-32X56 is £855 with FCH + Dot and proprietor John Dean also has the new tactical reticle models in stock now at £878. These are fantastic value for money with the Nightforce 8-32X56 NF now £1,200, and the equivalent NXS over £1,500 from their cheapest UK retailer, the Sportsman's Gun Centre.

Speak to John. He's a great guy, doing a lot of F Class sponsorship including donating Sightrons as prizes for the F-Class European Championships and recently the Ireland v USA Creedmoor matches at Tullamore. It's a small family outfit and 'Deano' shoots F/TR at Diggle and in the GB F Class League.

What would be the best reticule to get for F/TR shooting ?

I use the fine crosshairs + dot which suits me. The MOA based tactical reticle design would better suit some people who do a lot of aiming off and like hash marks to judge the amount they're applying. The dot is ideal if you're going for a centre-aim on the half-MOA X / white circle.

(I started out in F Class as an 'aimer-offer' but now aim for the target centre and change the turret settings as per sling shooters for all but the slightest of adjustments.)

I also like to aim for the centre and adjust turrets and I dont like a reticle thats cluttered with lines etc so now the question is which dot do I get.
I see they do a 1/4 moa and 1/8 moa dot.
