Scope base adaptation

hi all,

I have a remington 541 that id like to add davidson type bases to.

On the market there are weaver and redfield bases however with the davidsons i would be able to use my bkl risers and rings- not to mention that they are more light weight.

My idea was the following- getting a Ruger 10/22 3/8dovetail base and cutting it at two different spots as to create a pair of bases that i could then mount onto the 541. One side would probably need to have a screw hole drilled since the spacing is different.

Anyone try that before or would be willing to help me out? I have the base on "watched item" on ebay but hesitant to pull the trigger if there are better alternatives.

Thanks for yalls input

You'll need a base to match the Rem 541's 1" diameter.
Warne,Leupold,Talley manufacture bases to fit the 541/581 or purchase a Davidson base of matching radius & drill/counterbore mount screw holes.....done.
