School me on N140 and the Dasher.

Zero experience with VV powders...I have some N140 (and N540) I'd like to try in my dasher...not trying to reinvent the wheel here. From what little research I've done should I treat it like RL15? Does it seem to be temp sensitive? Thanks for any advice.

The lot of 140 I have is a lot faster than R15 so work up with it.

I can't talk directly about your Dasher, but I'll say this:

Vihtavuori N-140 is the best powder I've found for my .223 F/TR gun shooting Berger VLD 80gr bullets; accurate and consistent. I make very small tweaks to the charge weight based on the forecast temperature, usually a week in advance, using Quick Load as a guide. But I'm not sure it's really necessary.

A good deal of careful testing with my 6mm BR Norma shows that IMR 4895 and N-140 are just about equally accurate shooting Berger VLD 105gr bullets. However, the IMR 4895 gives me about 40fps more muzzle velocity and a significantly better ES and SD. So IMR 4895 is what I use for competition ammo in my 6mm BR. Plus the Vihtavuori costs nearly 40% more than the IMR, but a price advantage is just a bonus, not a real consideration.
