Schmidt&Bender 12.5-50X56 MOA

Have a March 8 x 80 I bought this spring. My opinion is it is great to about 50 x, gets fuzzy after that and starts getting significantly darker around 60x.
Thinking about getting the S-B 12.5-50 so like the discussion. Only advice I can give is to look though the scope before you buy it.

I have a friend who's March just lost it's windage adjustment. He's the second owner and the scopes over five years old so he's S.O.L.

If it were a Nightforce all he would have to do is ship it to Idaho for repairs, probably at no charge. Even S&B has a 20 year warranty and can be repaired in New Hampshire.

You can keep all the March scopes as far as I'm concerned because in my opinion when you pay 3K for a scope it should have a lifetime warranty and have a service center in the U.S.

Danny,

Before your friend gives up on his Deon/March you should check out the good things that are being said by those that have had to deal with problems out of warranty, click the link to benchrestcentral;

I also own a March 8-80 and i love it. I run mine on 60 power with no issues, but over 60X it does get darker in a hurry. It is dead on as far as adjustments and POI etc. Something my NF12-42 is not good at. I have a S&B 12-50 on my want list this winter. I owned and sold a PMII 5-25 to buy the March last year as the S&B did not have the power, then they released the 12-50 about the time I bought the March. The S&B optics are tough to beat, its like looking at the world in super HD.

Not trying to hijack, but are there any torture tests comparing NF to S+B? That would be a painful adventure drop testing those babies on concrete or granite. :o

I own 2 NFs and both have seen their fair share of hell from me (bad bad impacts), but they track so true (I'm always cranking turrets and switching the scopes from gun to gun each outing) it's hard to believe anything is more mechanically sound - not that they're aren't others as sound. I am going to buy S+B next time for the clarity I have seen, but I can see bullet holes to 550+ in my NF 32x. How far are you guys seeing dots on your big S+Bs? I've never shot paper past 600 so I can't say if I'd see the occasional tear on my NF.

You guys are fortunate to get to shoot on such good glass, but I guess I'm doing okay too. :P
