Sir Richard Schatz visited the DOME in March and in all the excitement of the two days I forgot to report that he made the 800 yd EGG shot in short order with his beloved Neiska K. We began shooting at the 238 yard egg rack and I don't think he missed a single egg there with the 105's.
I had just finished a new rack for the 800 yard line which was a 12 inch AR 500 plate with egg cut-out so that the egg is recessed behind the plate so that scrapnel has no chance of getting the egg. I call the plate THA JUDGE. I had shells loaded for a 6 XC and was using it. Only took Richard a few shots to make the first kill on the JUDGE. A shot has to go through the 1.5" x 2.75" window to score the egg.
It was getting late in the day and Richard asked if we were going up on the hill top. So you want to take your Dasher to 1400 yards, and he said yes. We set up and began shooting at 1428 yds into a dirt berm which is a pond bank. Richard had painted a rock white. Conditions were a little windy but the lighting was good and the ground was dry. We got very good dust (splash) reports. Tim
Hewitt had a 70X camera that picked up the splash. The little Dasher was hitting the same spot on every shot.
I had a 18 inch AR 500 plate at 1440 sitting in short grass. We moved to the plate and the Dasher made a couple of hits on the plate with enough power to swing the heavy plate enough that we saw it move.

They first day we shot long with a 284 Win. We took a sighter at 1,000 then went tot the 1428 yd line. The big 180 hybrids made a rock disappear. Richard warmed up on the pond bank and then moved to the 1440 plate and after zeroing made 3 consecutive hits on the 18 inch plate.

I asked him if he was ready to stretch out to 2 K and he was READY. So we loaded up and moved a mile down the road and up to another hilltop. Conditions were the best they had been in several days. Wind suddenly went to nothing and the sun was setting, lighting up the 2,000 yard green hillside with a yellow hew. I told Richard conditions were perfect. He picked out a small rock and sure enough with his first shot we saw splash. A few clicks and he was shooting within inches of the targeted rock. I have a short video of one of his shots, but I cut the video off a couple of seconds too soon. You just begin to see him break into a big smile after he sees the splash of the 180 hybrid at 2925 fps over RL-17 at 2,000 yards. You have plenty of time to get back on target and wait for the splash.

King Richard said he had never shot past 1,000 yds before. I got him to 2 K. We will extend that on his next trip as I have a 375 CHEYTAC ready to test fire. I had hoped it would be ready for Richard's visit but it was not to be.
