Scammers try again

This clown tried scamming me.through another members post.
This is his address with no name when asked for his name

Dix, IL 62830
Phone number used 1-915-229-0658

The 915 area code is from Texas.

I tried the 915-229-0658 number 4 times. First three times there was no answer; 4th time I got a recording that no "voice mailbox" had been set up yet.

The address search came up with:

Rickey Ilbery, 21239 N OLD CENTRALIA LN, DIX, IL 62830

That last name starts with "i" -- iLBERY
We found another possible name

This same scammer has been reported from Sniper's Hide, and Sturmgewehr .

What the scammers do is read classifieds, find someone who posts that he wants to buy a product. Then the scammer searches all that member's past posts looking for a phone number. With the would-be buyer's phone number, the scammer sends a text claiming to be the real seller. Typically then the scammer requests immediate payment via PayPal/Venmo Friends & Family (F&F), or Zelle, or CashApp.

WARNING: If you ever receive an unsolicited text like that, DO NOT SEND Money.

NEVER ever do a deal without a VOICE phone call -- pick up the PHONE AND TALK!

If a seller demands F&F or Zelle or CashApp, REFUSE and contact Forum Boss immediately.

I mentioned this before. I chased this guy around and found out that, as the FB stated, this address is VERY active in the scamming "business". The homeowner there is an older guy with zero criminal history that I can find. His adult son who, I believe lives with him, has a very long arrest history, much of which is for drugs, meth in particular. I suspect that the actual scammer is the son but, I could be wrong.

Yep he got me for $200 in July. I called the area sheriff and he referred me back to my local P.D. After I filed that, I also filed a mail fraud case with the U.S. Postal Inspector. The surprise that when a scammer uses the U.S. mail service he will be facing a charge of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses.
If enough people come froward, (and don't feel ashamed) this idiot will be smiling behind bars.

To Knotwild: If we restrict the classifieds viewing to registered members, that will also block access to the search engines. That will likely have a drastic effect on overall Forum traffic, reduce membership growth, and harm our ability to pay for site improvements and our content.
