Scam Components Vendors -- How to Protect Yourself

Came across this web site looking for H335. Just for grins I placed an item on the cart, it's asking for Zelle or Bitcoin.

Forum Boss: We don't provide links to scam sites but this website was named Firearms World.

I don't know if it's a dupe, it didn't show on the search, but maybe we can get a running thread towards the top of the reloading or main message boards to add a site or seller of a dubious nature.

I know we can run a search but maybe something you can go straight to at the beginning might be nice. It's 0100 hours and it sounds like a good idea now but I am tired and won't think so after some sleeee.....

It seems to me that everyone on here has been told the signs to look for regarding scams/scam websites over and over. If one hasn't figured it out by now there's little hope. I'm becoming tired of the subject. I say unless there is something that can actually be accomplished to catch and punish the person(s) perpetrating the scam, forget about it and move on. Buy from known sources.

Some of them are dead flat obvious, and others require some investigation. I saw one single 500 count box of 105 hybrids at a place in New York recently. They took cards, but I called anyway. I asked the guy that answered a couple of random questions, which he answered. Turns out they were legit and I got the bullets a couple of days after ordering.

People who fall for some of these websites probably deserve it.

I googled shooting and got some interesting sites ...er..i mean non-interesting sites. ;)

On one i was an instant winner ! :/

Click unknown, non http addresses at your own risk.

Some rules to avoid scammers:

1. Order from only known and established sources.

2. Assume every call and or email you receive is a scammer unless you know the source.

3. Anytime there is a shortage or crisis, this is a ripe environment for scammers - beware.

4. If it sounds too good to be true - it's most likely a scam - there are deals but no free lunches.

5. Relative to gun component shortages - investigate becoming involved in another hobby while you wait until this BS eases.

99% of the Fake website only allow you to pay with Venmo PayPal Zelle .... googling the address or phone # can help as well..... Just use common sense

Let me tell you what I have learned about internet
thieves by buying lessons. The postal authority will
not even make an effort, you can forget them.
I have tried on 2 occasions to give information
to the police authority where the thief lived, and
got no help. I have tried to get a warrant from my
county prosecutor to mail to the PD where the
thief resides. He flat said no. The FBI has jurisdiction,
but will not open a case unless its over $3K.
Just this month my CC co sided w/a thief who got me for
99.00 because I didnt call the perp and ask for a refund.
It's getting to where you can trust no one, except your
JEWELL TRIGGER salesman, and I maybe getting a little
shakey or flakey. LDS

The scam sites are adapting tactics as well.

One of the early scam sites had photos of people providing positive testimony of the company, you could find two of these people on Google image searches on multiple international web sites. Now these sites only provide photos that are not searchable.

They've also limited the amounts of products, no more 100k of primers with minimal shipping.
