scale not calibrating??

Ok looking for some input. I have a Dillon D-terminator scale that I have been unable to make calibrate this morning. It just keeps showing an error. Looking for any suggestions. I have tried unplugging and letting set for several minutes before each attempt. At a loss now.
Was not intending to have to buy another scale at this time. >:(

Thanks for any input.

OK, so I am assuming that you have no batteries installed so you are doing a full no power reboot.

You can try a number of things. One is to rid yourself of static electricity - that is a big culprit in winter but this is summer. Still wipe everything you have on with dry sheets and also the weighting pan. Check if the scale is level. Check for any breeze if you have fan or air con on. Those are a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried most of this. It is still not working. I will call technical support tomorrow and see what they have to say.

I am looking ar the GemPro 250 as a replacement. Any other recommendations appreciated.

Thanks

No sweat! Sometimes they are just dead.

Before you quit, one other more drastic thing to try. Turn the scale off and hold it down real good. Now use a shop vac to vac out the edges of the pan area. Don't physically touch the scale but get real close. The stronger the vacuum the better. This will remove any powder etc that may be lodged under than and prevent the scale from working.

If this still does not work, turn the scale upside down and tap on the bottom a few good times, this will also dislodge stuff. A more drastic move would be to use compress air but these two should be your last ones as it may make the jam worse...

Good luck. The GemPro 250 is a good buy. You can get better scales if you want to spend more money.

A friend has a couple of Dillon's at at my suggestion he got a Bald Eagle BE1188 (which I believe are still on sale for $80) He is quite impressed with the improvement. I have had one for several weeks, and am about to publish a review. With the proper settings, mine is good for +-.015 and most of the time +-.01 which makes it the best value that I know of. It has an AC adapter, and can also run off of six AAAs. I have turned off the display back light because I can read it just fine without, so that battery life will be extended when I take it to the range. There are a couple of setting tricks that will be mentioned in the review.

I didn't see these suggestions so here are a couple. Don't have an active cel phone nearby when using your scale (put it on airplane mode) and rotate the prongs from the electric plug of the scale in the receptacle. I have a Gem Pro 250 and its the best scale I've ever owned. It has it's quirks though. When I dump a charge that I've trickled up to my target weight I replace the empty pan on the scale to re-zero it and make sure it hasn't wandered. If it reads anything other than 00.00 gr. I hit the Tare button to re-re-zero it. Also, when I start charging my cases I'll throw a couple charges, trickle them up, dump it back into the powder thrower 4 or 5 times to make sure the scale has settled down to a stable zero (about 111.44 gr. for my pan) and then I charge the first case and set it aside as a control sample. I'll go back after every 10-15 cases and make sure the control weighs the same.

Update, well after speaking with tech support at Dillon they state that my software is corrupt. They will send me a new scale for $85 if I send them the old scale with an return authorization.
I like the scale but I am going to explore other options at this time.

Once again thanks for all the suggestions.

I will be looking forward to your review on the Bald Eagle Boyd.
