SAVAGE TRIGGER QUESTION

Can you tell me more? Can I get a factory Savage 6BR down to 2-3 oz?
Dont think so reliably. I have not checked the weight on mine but i would guess it brought it down to 1lb. That was with a non accutrigger. There website says there kit is not ment for the accutrigger but people have done it and gotter just under 1lb. I just built a 6x45 on a axis model with accutrigger. Im going to order another spring kit to try out in it.

Yea, after looking I think if I get one I'll go Rifle Basix, I can work with .04 oz, everything else I shoot in comp is 2 oz or less!! so 6 oz feels like a lot!

Pull the trigger and carefully polish the sear with a very fine stone 600-1000. Cut a coil off of the main and safety trigger springs. There may be a tutorial on Savage Shooters forum.
Old thread but think you could find still put a link to it here ?

The Sav2 in my experience will not work well under about a lb or so--it is a PIA to get this trigger set up--Yes after a while you get it acceptable but when you go lower it gets inconsistent and slam fires easily--it has a very fine line between working and being a piece of junk--I found using their lowest pull spring was waste of time and only after you go back to the higher pull spring can you really adjust it and get it safe YMMV
I was able to try my first red blade factory trigger and really thought it was great as Savage goes
Far better to me

I have come to the conclusion for a Savage trigger if you want a real upgrade, ALL of the factory trigger and sear needs to go away.
If rifle basics would make their own sear for their model of trigger I believe they would be way ahead.
There is a difference in sears, I have had all of the factory Savage accu triggers and sears are different. Mixing of parts was a train wreck.
I had slam fires with the RB trigger. I was told to close it gently, totally unacceptable.
The “blade” type triggers are over and above what was out there a short 20-25 years ago. Yet there are folks wanting a BR type trigger, not wanting to spend the money and not a real need for it anyway.
I bought a SSS trigger from a fellow that just had to have one as his red blade trigger was just too heavy. After a short time he decided it was too light and not safe. I slammed bolts and bumped the heck out of it in my rifle, not one issue of any kind.

A number of years I purchased an action from SSS which was timed/trued with his trigger. Smooth operation, great crisp trigger pull, and I really screwed up when I sold it.

Pretty much my findings. And spot on about keeping a heavier
spring in place for meaningful adjustment. Light springs just make
it worse......Waiting on Trigger Tech and the rumor mill but not
holding my breath. I really feel though that the way the Savage
actions are designed, nothing can come better without major
surgery. Someone sometime ago posted a pic of a Savage action
with a Jewel trigger. It was apparent that the action was milled
and who knows what was done to the bolt ??
