Savage threads

Well I am new to this Savage barrel change deal but I am a seasoned manufacturing engineer --so I noticed that the McGowan barrel I just pulled off my Striker the threads on the barrel were cut but the threads on the replacement "factory" barrel I ordered from Numerich were rolled.

Is it standard practice for Savage to roll threads on barrels?

That would be the way I would go in a production format.

Has anyone else noticed this??

What does Remington and others do?

Now you are seeing the difference in production barrels. The highest quality barrels are dialed in and cut single point tooling. The barrel is dialed in, turned, threaded, and chambered in the same set up.
