Savage target action

Hi,
I have an unusual question that I would like to ask. As far as the Savage Target Action is concerned. Is it conceivable to mill one of the Savage right port actions out to make it a dual port? Or for that matter mill a left port out on the right side to make it a dual port. I know that it would void any warranty from Savage, but I was just thinking as to why it couldn't be done. I tried to contact Savage but they are closed until next Monday. I didn't know if they would maybe do it at the factory for a charge. I have one in right port configuration. Thanks.

Fred at Sharp Shooter Supply has made dual-ports and drop ports out of standard Savage actions. Yes it can be done. tiny

Call Jim Briggs at 763/682-4296. He has the savage dual port right handed bolt in stock for $475. you will need to tap the rear bolt hole in order to utilize the current line of precision target stocks, unless savage has finally started doing that at the factory. But Jim can answer that.

I believe Larry Scott also has the new factory dual port actions available, and he's a suite contributor.

FYI, The new dual port actions have a different action screw spacing than the other target actions, so you'd need the stock to match it.

Fred @ SSS has done the conversion many times, so that is probably your safest bet if you wanna get it done to your current action.
