Savage target action in center feed stock?

Hey guys I got a rifle based on a savage target action. I'm getting ready to purchase a stock and I really like the bell and Carlson tactical medalist stock. I've heard of people using stocks made for a 4.4 center feed action and just leaving the center screw out. I have a chance to buy this stock at a very good deal and I'm wondering if it will fit and what modifications if any would have to be made?

Well before you get ready to buy that stock, there is 2 different action screw spacings on Savage target actions. You need to check your action. If you have the 4.40 spacing (Shared with the centerfeed actions.) then it will work , if you have the 3.44 spacing it will not work. The 3.44 spacing started out with the dual port actions, then it moved onto the other actions, and it is possible to get any of the target actions in the 3.44 actions screw spacing.

Thanks I didn't know that the target actions had two different spacings, I checked mine and its a 4.4.

It is also possible to have 3.44 spacing on Right Bolt Left Port
