With the price they are asking you might as well buy an aftermarket drop in and get better accuarcy to boot.

In terms of cost, the Northland price does seem too high. also, your going to need action and nut wrench plus gauge(s). The gun is now a 270. I already have 22 centerfire plus 25-06 and 30 06. I was looking for a 35 maybe or possibly a 243( never had one before) Just curious as to what is out there.

Jim at Northland has new Savage take offs for 80 bucks. Good company to deal with

For about $50 shipped you can find new Savage/Stevens blued factory take offs. The membership at Savageshooters is worth it, and Nortlander is very good to deal with to. McGowan sell new custom barrels and Criterion and just about everybody. Have fun.

Have a .270 Stevens 200/Savage barrel I replaced, maybe 50 rounds down it. PM me if interested.

Im located in mechanicsburg PA.

But if you happen to have an action vice and a smooth nut wrench to help me get it off and help me headspace and install my LW barrel when it comes in and you can have the barrel for free.
