Savage super sporter 45 30/06 reduced loads

I have a savage super sporter 45 that my uncle gave me b4 he passed. I have only shot some 180gr rem factory in it. Original steel butt plate. Kicks like a mammoth jack donkey. It's not any pleasure to shoot and after some research these guns didnt have the strongest action anyway. So I'm thinking of doing a reduced load so I dont have to alter the gun permanently. Thinking 150gr of some sort. I have no experience working with reduced loads and dont want a undercharged detonation. Going to get some weaver side mount base and rings to mount a low power scope on. Thank you for any help.

The Trail Boss load data is on the web, just keep scrolling down to the bottom of the .30-06 section under the 150 gr listing. 13.3 grains gives 1061 fps @ 14,700 psi and 19.0 grains gives 1477 fps @ 24,600 psi, both listed as 1:10 twist x 24" using a Win Large Primer.

I have had great luck with the Hodgdon 60% method . Accuracy has been better than the Trail Boss loads . I reduce 30-06 for recoil ,I find what load is comfortable to shoot and fine tune with seating depth . I shoot bullets from 110-168 grains using reduced H4895 ,mild and accurate once dialed in.

If you hunt , the Hornady FTX is a good choice in my opinion . I use it on paper also,I have found it to be the most accuratein ...my theory for that is the long tail taking up volume in the case giving consistent ignition . I use H4895 and loaded at 30-30 levels, the bullets intended purpose is tube fed lever guns...seems to be a great combo in my rifle.
