Savage Precision Target Actions for LEFT Hand Shooters

As the title states. Which would you prefer?

Left bolt, Left eject?

Left bolt, Right eject?

Dennis

I shoot LH'ed but use RBRP actions. LBRP would be my second choice, I prefer to have the port on my side for loading ease, most of my PD guns are sans ejector so I can grab the case so it doesn't get dirty. Building a " runner" would be a different story.

I wanted to try shooting a left hand action (I'am a righty) , right handed. Picked up a Model 12 Savage action and mounted it in a ambi stock. Right hand stays on the stock and ammo feeding and bolt operation is done with my "free" left hand. Liked it so much that I built a right hand thumbhole stock for the left hand action. Feed ammo and work the bolt left handed and my right hand keeps control of the stock.
No ejector so the brass stays on the bolt head till I pick it off. Left bolt, left eject. I like it better than my right hand actions. 8)
If it was me, I'd go right port, right eject. Your left hand stays on the stock for control.

From a bench or F T/R a right hand action seems easier...sling shooting , not so much. I did see a Savage Palma in left hand for sale online recently , I believe from their custom shop.

from the bench..right bolt , left port.. for a lh shooter..right bolt , right port requires to much movement to operate and catch/extract spent brass. the less movement the better.

I agree, plus

I personally think a RT Port ejecting brass across the RT eye might be dangerous.

Keep the comments coming.

I only have usable sight in my left eye..20/20 corrected..right eye is 20/200 non correctable..having the port on the opposite side away from my good eye is a definite plus..you really never know..take all the precautions with the brass, primer seating, powder weight..try to sort the variables..but as the sign says.." s##t happens "

No worse than a small explosion 6" from your face, wheather contained or not.

Pull the ejector rod and spring. The case stays in place and you pick the brass off the bolt head. Never hits the ground and you don't have to chase it.

Shooting glasses!

wear them..allways..but I have yet to see a set that comes with guarantee's to save sight..if you know of any..please let us know

Dennis, both of my bench guns are left bolt, right port. One is a Nesika J 30 BR and the other is Panda 6PPC. Neither have ejectors, I just pluck the spent case from the bolt. I like to see what I'm doing.
